Welsh Coast and Country Cottages
Situated in the grounds of the historic Plas Dinas Country House, home of the Armstrong-Jones family, this delightful lodge makes an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia. Anthony Armstrong-Jones (Lord Snowdon) married HRH Princess Margaret in 1960 and the investiture at Caernarfon Castle of the Prince of Wales was organised by Lord Snowdon from Plas Dinas whilst the Lodge itself was occupied by armed guards. There are 15 acres of grounds with the Country House which guests are welcome to wander through, you may also use the licensed bar or have a delicious cooked breakfast or evening meal in the main house (extra cost) should you wish. The village pub is a 5 minute walk away and serves meals. There are numerous attractions in the area including Portmeirion Village, Caernarfon, Harlech & Penrhyn Castles, Slate works, Welsh Highland & Snowdon Mountain Railways, Swallow Falls, Bodnant Garden and the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
Stunning sea views of Barmouth Bay and the Lleyn Peninsula can be enjoyed from most rooms in this three storey property. The house is situated on the outskirts of the attractive seaside town of Llwyngwril between Tywyn and Dolgellau. Llwyngwril has a village store with post office and tea room and a pub which serves food. A train track runs between the end of the garden and the sea and at holiday times the Fairbourne steam train goes by as well as the service train. There is a designated crossing over the train track for easy access to the pebbled beach.
We are happy to offer four (of 13) newly built detached bungalows built high up on a steep wooded hillside in the Snowdonia National Park overlooking the Dovey estuary and nature reserve with the Plynlimon hills as a backdrop. Aberdovey is about 3 miles away and has a 4 mile stretch of sand which should exhaust the most energetic family or dog! There is also a championship golf course and a small pier and several good pubs and restaurants for food and drink. Tywyn is a little further up the coast and there is a beautiful drive alongside the Tal y Llyn Lake or you could take a ride on the narrow gauge steam railway of the same name to Abergynolwyn. Machynlleth is about half an hour away and is a wonderful Welsh town with a great street market every Wednesday. The Centre for Alternative Technology makes an inspirational day out as does the university town of Aberystwyth. All four properties are very similar and each provides comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people with a decked balcony offering views over the estuary.

Situated in the village of Furnace, close to the Furnace falls, Ynys Hir Nature Reserve, the Dovey Estuary and the scenic Artists Valley, this large former village smithy grade 2 listed building makes a fabulous holiday base. The thriving market town of Machynlleth is 6 miles north and Aberystwyth is 12 miles south. Aberdovey is a half hour drive with stunning scenery along the way. The Old Stable apartments have recently been converted from the original stable block to the former Bishop of Bangor's Palace which was destroyed by fire in the 1950s. The gated apartments offer superb accommodation in a peaceful location at the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park. You are just a mile and a half from Pennal and 3 from Aberdovey, Tywyn is a little further up the coast. Aberdyfi is a picturesque seaside town with a magnificent 4 mile beach backed by golden dunes and a championship links golf course.
The owners can arrange temporary membership of the Plas Talgarth Health & Leisure Club (about a mile and a half from the apartments), on request.
There are numerous places to eat and drink in Aberdyfi and the Penhelig Arms (just 2 miles away) is famous throughout Wales for it's warm Welsh welcome and good food.
Aberdyfi is also a great base for visiting many of the major attractions in North Wales and Mid Wales including the Centre for Alternative Technology, Corris Craft Centre, Adrenalin Junkies, Portmeirion and the Tal y Llyn Railway as well as wildlife boat trips, kite surfing, slate caverns, quad & mountain biking, pony trekking and so much more. There is an Outward Bound centre a mile or so down the road that offers canoeing, climbing, outdoor pursuits etc.
If you venture inland a little, there is spectacular mountain and valley scenery; Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges and the Dovey and Dysynni valleys nearby. The area is ideal for walkers, ramblers, birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
These are not ordinary apartments, they are very special indeed!
