Situated on Anglesey is a Town with a name which is the longest word in the Welsh language and also the Worlds longest placename.
If you are not from Wales or cannot speak any Welsh then you will be well forgiven for not being able to pronounce the Town's name as in total there are only 13 (English) vowels in 58 letters. Add this together with the fact that the Welsh language is extremely phonetic compared to the English then it's hardly supprising that only reasonably fluent Welsh speakers can pronounce the full name.
The original name for the Town is Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and the elongated version was invented during the 1860's to help promote the Town as a tourist destination.
Today the Town is still quite a popular destination and many visit purely to see the sign posts and have to thier photographs taken along side them.
