Perfect for a group of six on a walking trip. The barn is very spacious and well equipped.

The property

Maes Y Berllan Barn, a magnificent 17th-century barn conversion, lies tucked away in Gilwern, near Abergavenny, in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park).

It is a superb family-friendly home, sleeping ten and their two canine companions, ideal for those who want to retreat to this beautiful region.

It has an interior full of historic elements such as exposed beams and high, vaulted ceilings.

You'll be able to whip up great meals for your family and friends with the help of the Rangemaster with electric oven and hob, microwave, 60/40 fridge/freezer, as well as a handy dishwasher and washing machine for keeping your kitchen area clean and tidy.

In the living/dining area, prepare a tasty supper for ten people, or dine alfresco in the wide, enclosed garden with a BBQ if the weather permits.

Relax in the sitting area, which features a selection of plush sofas, two of which are sofa beds for four additional guests, as the wood burning stove crackles close, and enjoy a family movie night on the Smart TV.

The laundry/drying room has a tumble dryer for your convenience.

A super king-size bedroom with zip/link beds and a wet room shower with disability access, completes the ground level, making it perfect for guests with mobility issues.

Find a quiet space with a good book by climbing the stairs onto the first-floor gallery which features two armchairs.

Choose from three additional well-presented bedrooms on the first floor, a super-king-size with en-suite shower room, a super-king-size with single bed, and a super-king-size and single day bed with en-suite cloakroom and basin, all beds, apart from the day bed, are zip'n'link.

There are two welcome pubs in your immediate area, The Beaufort and The Corn Exchange, both of which serve up delicious food and local brews when you need a night off from the kitchen.

Because of your ideal location within the National Park, you'll have easy access to a wide variety of wonderful walking and cycling routes, as well as opportunities for bird viewing and even fishing in the River Usk for rainbow trout and sockeye salmon.

Check out the Sugarloaf, which is one of the Black Mountains' highest peaks and provides breath-taking vistas from its summit, or the Usk Valley.

A short drive will take you to Abergavenny, with its museum, the spectacular castle ruins and its indoor and outdoor markets.

Or have a picnic in the beautiful Bailey Park or Linda Vista Gardens, or practise your golf swing at the world-class Monmouthshire Golf Club.
