“Myrtle Villa is a great house with a lovely, secure garden.”
The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped with lots of attention to detail. It has the best ever shower cubicle! Parking was fine for us with a Seat Arona. The house is located in an area of stunning countryside with great walks from the door. The train station is a five minute walk away and we caught a train twice to a nearby village and walked back.

This characterful, former engine driver’s cottage, is set on the fringes of the market town of Knighton, close to the English/Welsh border.

The front door opens into an enclosed porch where you can leave your boots behind after a day of walking.

Across the hall is the dining room, with a window overlooking the garden, oak flooring and exposed stone walls, where you can enjoy hearty meals prepared in the amply equipped kitchen.
Whisk away upstairs and find the bedrooms; a double and a twin, with wooden floors and exposed stone work.
Completing the interior is the spacious bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day.
At the rear of the house is a decked area that overlooks the garden sloping gently towards the railway running beside the River Teme; perfect for an evening tipple or a morning coffee.
The market town of Knighton provides a great holiday base, offering a diverse range of shops including a supermarket, a butcher and a farm shop, offering seasonal produce and a range of homemade goods.
Those looking to get their steps in will have no trouble exploring the various walking paths in the area, including the Offa’s Dyke path and Owain Glyndwr's Way, or head across the road to explore Kinsley Wood.
Cyclists can join the 84-mile-long Radnor Ring Cycling Route which passes Myrtle Villa.
Knighton station on the Heart of Wales is a short walk away with a regular train service heading towards the historic Shrewsbury or through Llandrindod Wells.
Elsewhere in the region, the National Trust property of Powis Castle with its celebrated gardens and the medieval town of Ludlow, with its 13th century castle, are well worth a visit.

The charming market town of Knighton nestles amidst lovely countryside on the banks of the River Teme, which straddles the English/Welsh border. This is a renowned location for walking, riding and cycling with Offa's Dyke actually passing through the town, which hosts the Offa's Dyke Information Centre. Owain Glyndwr's Way also runs through the heart of the town and Radnor Forest and the 84 mile long Radnor Ring Cycling Route are also both close by. Visit magnificent Powis Castle with its celebrated gardens, the breathtaking reservoirs of the Elan Valley and the lovely towns of Presteigne, Leominster and medieval Ludlow, with its famous 13th century castle, ancient buildings and wonderful restaurants. Hay-on-Wye, the Town of Books, with its famous annual literary festival, along with the Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells are within easy driving distance.
