Thank you Joanne for your positive comments and feedback. I do hope you enjoyed the cottage and an emerging spring garden . The garden continues to change as late spring and summer shows an increasing display of beautiful shrubs and plants. I hope you liked it as much as your dog! I hope you are able to visit Haulfryn later in the year and discover many other wonderful places to visit. Diolch yn fawr. Chris and Liz. Property Owner

The property

This attractive, stone-built, detached cottage is conveniently situated in a rural setting, on the outskirts of Llangynog village.

The village rests at the foot of the Milltir Cerrig mountain pass, in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains in Powys.

Charming and full of character, this cosy cottage welcomes you in through an open porch, which leads into the well-styled sitting room with comfy sofas and a woodburning stove set in a red brick inglenook hearth.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped, with a social dining area, and it also retains the original range with a feature oven and a further woodburning stove to provide character and warmth.

Upstairs are two lovely double bedrooms with superb views across the valley, both offering some en-suite facilities in addition to the family bathroom, which has a bath and shower over.

There is also door access off the landing into the rear garden.

The property, a former lead miner’s cottage thought to date back to the 1820s, has been carefully modernised to retain original features where possible, whilst providing a modern country cottage feel throughout.

A particular feature of the cottage are the extensive terraced gardens with many interesting plants and shrubs.

Outside, the well-kept gardens to front and rear offer superb views down the Tanat Valley, and sunny seating areas to sit and relax, planning the activities for the coming days.

The cottage is in a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and climbers, and a walk to Rhaeadr Waterfall should not be shirked, as it is the highest single drop waterfall in the UK.

For a calmer walk, but equally as stunning, a trail leads from the cottage in the other direction to St Melangell’s Church, one of the remotest churches in Britain.

Haulfryn is a superb cottage in a fantastic location for a relaxing break at any time of the year!

About the location

LLANGYNOG

Bala 13.2 miles; Shrewsbury 32.4 miles

The pleasant village of Llangynog lies in breathtaking countryside amidst the beautiful Berwyn Mountains and surrounding wooded hills and valleys. The area has a history of lead, silver and slate mining dating back to the 17th Century but today it is a renowned location for climbing, birdwatching, walking and cycling, with famous mountain bike trails near Dolgellau, and a mountain bike centre at Llandegla. Llangynog boasts two pubs, both of which serve good food and are perfect to relax in after an exciting day out, plus on the outskirts of the village is a down hill mountain bike centre. There is also an off road motorbike experience, which is set on a 1500 acre site further up the valley which needs to be booked in advance. Enjoy Lake Bala, a wonderful beauty spot, with excellent fishing, a variety of water sports including white water rafting and a lakeside steam railway, or visit Lake Vyrnwy, which has an RSPB centre, bike hire and a sculpture park. Also within easy reach is Llanrhaeadr Waterfall, the tallest single drop waterfall in England and Wales. This is a beautiful part of the country and is perfect for touring the rest of North and Mid Wales and even Shropshire.
