“What a super property in a truly wonderful and tranquil rural location yet within a short drive of excellent local pub and convenience store.”

Pond cottage, one of two lovely detached holiday cottages in a small complex of three homes in all including the owners' former farm house, is a genuine delight. The property is unusual perhaps with it's inverted accommodation but exceptionally spacious throughout, interesting in layout and ideal in particular for two couples with it's two large double bedrooms each having extremely generous bathroom or shower room but separated by a large entrance hall with useful fully equipped utility cupboard under the stairs. A single step down at the end of the large lounge/diner leads into an additional seating area with two comfortable chairs from which visitors can admire a stunning variety of birds on the nut feeder and balcony immediately outside. The excellent Kitchen/Breakfast Room completes the accommodation and is not only extremely well fitted and equipped but again unusually generous in size. The covered hot tub just outside the back door was more than a bonus, it was a delight in itself with direct outlook over the grounds which themselves afford a gorgeous setting with plenty of opportunity for dog walking. Last but not least, a special mention must be made of the owners Mark and Philippa who are most helpful, warm and welcoming and made us feel quite at home. Casper and Bailey, the owners' very friendly Spaniels, contributed to that welcome too !

About the location

NEW QUAY

Lampeter 12 miles; Cardigan 20 miles; Aberystwyth 24 miles.

This delightful seaside town is one of the most popular holiday resorts all year round, and it is easy to see why when you stroll along the sea edge and enjoy the beautiful views. The lovely range of gift shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs offer all you need, while boat trips are a wonderful opportunity to spot the playful dolphins, seals and other rare animals and birds that inhabit the bay's sheltering waters. For the hands-on members of your party why not try sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and power boating with expert tuition available? The famous poet, Dylan Thomas, penned many works with inspiration in New Quay including "Quite Early One Morning" and you can follow the Dylan Thomas trail around the town. Just 7 miles away is Aberaeron, a lively Georgian harbour town with multi-coloured cottages and a good selection of restaurants and inns. This wonderful area of Wales not only has stunning sandy beaches, but also beautiful countryside walks and the outstanding Devil's Bridge is world-renowned for the three bridges, the narrow gauge steam railway and the cascading waterfalls. A perfect base for wonderful holidays, all year round.
