“We enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage.”

The house was well equipped and we enjoyed the welcome gifts (even the ones for the dogs). Ideally situated to visit New Quay, Tenby, Carmarthen to name a few towns we enjoyed all within a hours drive. Property was well stocked and exactly as described. Our only small issue was some of the cleanliness, the main shower we had to clean ourselves and there were lots of dust and cobwebs scattered about

“2nd stay here.”

Perfectly situated for us. Have visited the village many times over the years. It’s finding accommodation that fits us all in. A short walk from the car park £25 for a weeks stay. Lovely market at the abbey tues mornings selling local produce.

Thank you for staying again at Rose Cottage - delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay. St Dogmaels Local Producers Market did previously win 'Best Market' in BBC Food and Farming Awards in 2016. The High Street car park is very convenient (67 spaces) and has 4x EV chargers. There is alternative free parking in Alexandra Gardens (13 spaces) which some guests may prefer, although this does get busy in the holiday season. “Just returned from an absolutely fabulous break at Rose Cottage St Dogmaels.”

Such lovely accommodation! It was great to walk in to clean bright and airy kitchen lounge diner. Tastefully decorated. Kitchen well equipped and TV Netflix etc was a boon. I loved the bedrooms. Plenty of room for us very comfortable 3 doubles and a bunk room. The best thing was the river walk just a minute from the front door through car park and you are on the river Teifi. The beautiful Poppit sands a very short 5 min drive. We went there most days. Absolutely loved it and StDogmaels Also recommend the Tuesday local produce farmers market , set in the beautiful grounds of the Abbey. Also the great little chippy opposite and local pubs were a great asset! Would definitely go again!

“Location was tricky to find there is another Rose Cottage up the road, which coursed a little confusion.”

Rose Cottage was perfect for a four person 3 day writing retreat. The proximity of the river and open spaces was an added bonus.

“Beautiful cottage, in a lovely area.”

Plenty of crockery and cutlery, nice soft furnishings and comfortable beds. We managed to watch Netflix and bbc iplayer but couldn’t get the free sat box to work or get normal channels, but that didn’t bother us. My only suggestion would be that it would have been nice to have had a couple of single beds instead of one of the double beds, and a wardrobe . Would definitely recommend and would love to return sometime x

“Lot of dust around fire siround, tumble dryer not cleaned out before we arrived example water container full of water and caused water on floor.”

Told to leave bins out on Thursday for collection and was told collection was every 3 weeks both not collected on both visits had to by tea spoons because there were only a couple No anti alagi pillows

Thank you for your feedback - we have changed our cleaning provider and housekeeping team in response to this and confirm the waste is now collected on a weekly basis through a private, licensed waste management and recycling company. We confirm the pillows are a non-allergenic, polycotton blend and have received the Good Housekeeping Institute Approved endorsement. The pillow protectors are made from a fully waterproof, breathable fabric and have an anti-bacterial, anti-microbe, anti-dustmite finish. “The property is looking a bit tired.”

We don't have dogs and the smell of dogs on the living room furniture and blankets was very strong. There is a lot of dust due to the large number of (lovely) knicknacks everywhere. The ensuite bathroom door doesn't shut and the boiler seems to switch on and off throughout the night. One set of bedding had bloodstains on the sheets and other stains on the duvet cover. The road is very noisy. Otherwise this is a large house with comfy beds, and ideal for a family who don't mind road noise and have dogs.

“Holiday cottage was excellent, had everything we needed.”

Spacious enough with there only being two of us and two dogs, but a nice cosy feel about the cottage when we got back in the evenings after a days travelling/walking. Absolutely great location for exploring the West coast with Cardigan on the doorstep and Tenby/Fishguard/St. David’s all within 45mins drive. Village also had everything we needed, a local shop for supplies, a chip-shop, and two pubs within walking distance. The White Hart Community pub which is a 2min walk away served great food and there was a friendly atmosphere about the place. Would highly recommend the property.

“We enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage.”

We appreciated that everything was provided. As we had small children and dogs the stair gates and baby equipment was very important. The house was to a very high spec and was clean and inviting. The location was quite central. There were local amenities if we ran out of anything. The Fish and Chip shop was to die for. Having not been to this particular location previously, I didn’t realise it is very picturesque. The beaches are nearby and clean and welcome dogs. I very much hope to return one day. “It could have been cleaner to be fair.”

We had to clean both showers to start as they were covered in the orange scum build up from soap etc. The rim at the bottom was black and the shower drain hadn’t been cleaned from hair for ages. My daughter found 2 little blue pills under her bed! Not good with a baby in the room. Living room and crockery and bed linen were clean. The black bin in the shed was overflowing. Our black bag wouldn’t fit in. Unsure when the “ private “ collection takes place. Also it says put glass bottles in bottle bank in car park. That’s no longer there. So glass had to go in general waste in car park which is a recycling shame. Kitchen scissors and a potato peeler would be useful in the kitchen drawer. These are only small things but may be helpful comments. We did have a lovely stay though and would recommend and return.

“What a gem of a cottage and a lovely area.”

Perfect for our family of 3 generations and a dog. Light and airy, spacious living space, well equipped kitchen and the bonus of a utility room and downstairs loo. Sunny front garden. Comfy beds, great showers and lovely bath. Stair gates were great for keeping the toddlers safe and limiting the dog to downstairs. We would definitely book the cottage again.

“A lovely clean cottage.”

It is well maintained and is in an excellent location. It was a lovely gesture and pleasant Easter surprise for the owners to leave us hot cross buns, daffodils and chocolates on the pillows. Our grandson was in his element collecting them all and did share one or two!! We had a lovely stay and am sure we will return sometime. St Dogmaels was a quiet, picturesque place. The staff at the Coach House and White Hart were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent in both places. All in all we all had a relaxing break.

“Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and clean, had everything you need and more, our only negative was the cleaning cupboard under the stairs could have been more organised, with two dogs we had to clean the floors every day.”

Also the courtyard was very small for two dogs, but the area had some great walks along the estuary and on the beach. Supermarket was very well stocked just a few doors away and the Community Pub where they make you very welcome (dogs included). We had amazing food on New Year’s Eve in the Ferry Inn where dogs are also welcome. We had a great time and will definitely be returning to cardigan.

“Rose cottage location was fabulous, however damp in the upstairs bedroom meant we couldn’t use it !”

The whole house is full of nic nacs that really need sorting with Covid it would make the cleaning so much easier as there is stuff shoved in cupboards and drawers everywhere and so the cleaning isn’t as it should be! No wardrobes , if some of the old large furniture was removed it would make space to hang stuff rather then on hooks! We found food left in freezer, recycling bins full from previous guests, very dusty everywhere , dehumidifier was full in the top room we couldn’t use, but our main issue was the en-suite, NO DOOR on it so if you sat on the toilet you were in full view of not just the occupants of the bedroom but also the house across the road! On saying that we had a lovely stay great watching the world go by in the front, everything you need for cooking ( when you finally find what your looking for ), right on the coastal path, The ferry Inn down the road was great atmosphere, location and food, farmers market on the Tuesday worth a visit as was the Farm shop down the road along with lots of other things including the chippy!

Thank you for your feedback. Everyone has different taste and so the Nic-nacs comment is subjective. The website description matches the property. Regrettably, we are unable to fit wardrobes in the bedrooms so drawers and hanging space has been provided instead, as seen on the website. We have now amended the instructions for waste and recycling to make this clear for future guests. There was a slight damp issue in the top bedroom - which happens with old houses (Rose Cottage is approx 150 years old). The dehumidifier was a temporary measure which should not be required to run on a regular basis. We have changed cleaning provider and ensured they are aware to check and empty the dehumidifier if it has been used on each changeover. The ensuite door was this was unfortunately broken by a guest within the preceding weeks. Due to Covid it was difficult to obtain tradesmen to fit. However, pleased to say this is now fixed. Rose Cottage is in a lovely part of Wales in a beautiful little, everyone in the village are friendly and welcoming, the fish and chip shop always as a queue outside and they are really tasty especially the cod - Rose Cottage was spotless on arrival - well equipped with everything you could need, the downstairs is open plan and very spacious- the bedrooms light and airy, a big American fridge freezer to stock up if you want, a wonderful stay and look forward to going back again

“Had a great break in Rose Cottage.”

Facilities were really good for our family of 5 adults, 3 children and one dog with plenty of space for all. The cottage was warm and comfortable and everything had been thought of to make it complete. The sunny front garden was a lovely place to sit and the locals in the village are really friendly. There is a weekly Tuesday market selling home baked bread, cakes etc. and vegetables together with crafts. St. Dogmaels is a real homely village with a riverside walk to the Ferry Inn which has a riverside decked area. There is a small playground in the village for young children too. The chip shop portions were a little small but on the whole the quality was ok but not the best we've had. There is an old water mill that gives guided tours and the ancient Abbey ruins are worth a look. Poppit Sands which has dunes is a short drive. The beach and walks at Mwnt (Nat. Trust) are a good place to spot dolphins and seals. All in all plenty to see and do. Tenby is one hours drive away. Would fully recommend Rose Cottage.

“The cottage was very well appointed and conveniently located to access the many attractions in the area.”

The High Street may be narrow outside the cottage ( no parking possible ) but any inconvenience is offset by the nearby car park. There are numerous walks to be enjoyed in the area, as well as some beautiful beaches and stunning countryside. It's impossible to take a bad photograph! Cardigan is only 1 mile away with all facilities . Most importantly the local residents were very friendly and welcoming. We would have no hesitation in returning to the cottage.

“A fabulous cottage well suited for a larger party of guests.”

Everything we needed was there including a vast array of toys which our grandson loved playing with. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil and pan we could ever need and everything was spotlessly clean throughout. The four bedrooms all beautifully decorated with fresh, crisp linen on the beds and attention to detail was evident in all rooms. Brilliant shower and a huge bath again all spotlessly clean. The owners also left wine and chocolates for my husband as it was a special birthday for him - this was much appreciated. All in all a lovely cottage in a great area very near the beach and some great places to visit nearby . Excellent pubs too. Highly recommend a visit to Rose Cottage.

“The cream sofas in the cottage were not comfortable to sit on.”

The majority of the beds were also very hard, which made sleeping a challenge. Beds are easily rectified with a memory foam mattress topper. In the top bedroom there is no blind so light floods in in the morning. What is disappointing is that requests for a blind in there have been in the visitor's book in the lounge for over a year so it doesn't appear that the owners are listening to feedback. The bath was the most amazing bath I have been in. So deep and it fit my 6foot hustband in with room to spare. He never has a bath but was loving this one. Good selection of toys for the bath too although I would recommend the owners bin the squishy ones as they have black bacteria in them. It was grim to have it squirted on to me by my child on the first night. The other toys and books on offer in the lounge were a great addition. The location was really good. There were some lovely walks to do with the dogs and we ventured to Poppit Sands often. Food wise there is a lovely chippy over the road for first night tea. There is an Aldi and Tesco a short drive away. There is a Premier shop 2mins walk up the road for essentials. We also went into Cardigan and ate at Pizza Tipi and El Salsa. Both had a street food vibe but the food was amazing and would highly recommend. Our favourite place to visit was the Shire Horse farm. We got there for 11ish and got to experience everything in about 4 and a half hours. My little boy loved it. All in all we loved our holiday house and whilst I have made suggestions for improvement that is to help with the customer experience.

“Loved the cottage and its facilities and really enjoyed our holiday with my 80 year old parents.”

We had a severely leaking kettle when we arrived but this was dealt very quickly by the owners to which we were very satisfied with. However I didn't find it as clean as it could have been. Underneath the sofas had toe nails, toy cars, lego and a lot of hair therefore clearly hadn't been cleaned before our arrival and should have been checked. I'd really recommend this beautiful cottage as its in a lovely spot, the people are very friendly. 2 lovely pubs that serve food and on the whole a very dog friendly place. The Ferry Inn our favourite for meals and The White Heart just down the road for drinks. Lots of shops in cardigan are dog friendly too. I would have given 4/5 * but cleanliness is the absolute basics for me.

“We had a fantastic stay here.”

The cottage was in a perfect location for trips out to Cardigan, Pembrokeshire and Poppit Sands. It had everythign we needed for a comfortable stay, in a beautiful spot. There's a shop just up the road for any essentials and the bus stops right outside the house for anyone wanting a break from driving. There's a pub and a chip shop on the same road and we had a really interesting tour of the local mill which is definitely worth a visit. The rooms were beautiful and everyone noted that they hadn't missed their home comforts while staying there. There was even a pint of milk on arrival! We would definitely stay again and could ahve easily stayed for another week. A great family holiday spot.

“Superb location.”

No hassle parking and reasonable price. Fantastic range oven and gas hob, loved cooking on and in this. The Tuesday produce market was superb. So friendly in the pub down the road, the White Hart. Superb food. Lovely people. Also really friendly and especially dog friendly at the Ferry Inn. Did not eat there but it looked really good. Lovely walks out of the back door. Poppit Sands was superb for dogs to the right. We were blessed with superb weather. The neighbours were lovely and so friendly. Happy to have a chat and pet our dogs. Lovely to sit out in the front garden and watch the world go by.

“The cottage was everything we wanted; furnished to a high standard and nicely decorated with a coastal theme and yet cosy.”

The bedrooms were lovely and both the bathroom facilities were very good. The kitchen was very modern and having the utility room was handy too. The children loved having a good WiFi connection and access to Netflix, particularly when the weather wasn't good or for chilling after a busy day. This was the first time we've taken our dog away with us and we were really pleased we did. The village itself was lovely, the locals we spoke to were very friendly and having 3 dog and child friendly pubs all within 10 minutes walking distance was great!

The location is excellent in terms of its proximity to the shop, pubs, and the first class fish and chip shop. The village of St Dogmaels is idyllic , with its ruined Abbey, watermill and beautiful estuary. There are many splendid walks in the vicinity.

In the village you can see a working mill and enjoy locally made foods, visit the local produce market or venture a mile to Cardigan where its magnificent castle has been restored to its former glory, a shopping trip will be a treat with small unique shops, an antiques market and much more.

Book a boat trip to spot dolphins or visit Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort or the Welsh Wildlife Centre.

Cardigan 1 mile.

St Dogmaels is an ancient and tranquil village nestling peacefully around its ruined abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi on the totally unspoiled west Wales coast. One of its attractions is Y Felin, one of only two working watermills in Wales and retains the machinery installed in 1820. It is thought the mill was originally built by the monks of St Dogmaels' 12th century Abbey. The miller shows how the mill works and bread, flour and cakes can be purchased from the mill or you can enjoy tea and cakes and light lunches in the Coach House Café nearby. An award winning local produce market is held here every Tuesday and is well worth a visit. The village has a pub, a fish & chip shop, a Post Office, a cafe and a small museum at the abbey. There is also a pretty green and a millpond with ducks. Cardigan, a delightful ancient market town, is just over a mile away. This ancient town sits on the estuary of the River Teifi at the base of Cardigan Bay. Its unspoilt townscape and rich heritage provide a nostalgic backdrop to a thriving culture of arts and crafts, events and music festivals. Nearby is the wonderful Poppit Sands where you can relax on sunny days or enjoy invigorating walks in the cooler months, as well as exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast Path. St Dogmaels is the start or finish of the 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path from St Dogmaels to Amroth. Visit Castell Henllys, the Iron Age Fort where everyone is encouraged to learn the ancient way of living, or visit the wonderful Shire Horse Farm to see how farming was before tractors. The Cardigan Bay dolphins can be seen off the bay on a regular basis and more active pursuits can be found at Cardigan Bay Active, including surfing, wildlife trips or coasteering. With scenic coastal, riverside and countryside walks and an array of other beaches and attractions all close by, this is a perfect holiday location all year round.
