“We have just returned from a wonderful week at Dolwern.”
It was our first visit but will definitely not be our last. Having read the reviews from previous visitors, our expectations we pretty high. Amazingly though, this beautiful house completely exceeded all expectations.
Within our party were my two young grandchildren (5 & 7); my elderly father and his sister (95 and 94) and various ages in between. The house really was suitable for everybody. The downstairs ensuite bedroom was perfect for my frail father and the children loved the bunk beds. Everybody loved the garden and all of its amazing features. The information provided by the owners before and during our stay was exceptional and we were left in no doubt that they genuinely cared about their guests.
As others have mentioned, there are some wonderful walks, literally on the doorstep. My son and the children enjoyed walking to the beach at Cwm-yr-Eglwys via the path at the end of the garden. I was able to drive there with my dad, where the car park is right next to the beach. It really is a beautiful spot.
The locals we encountered we very friendly and welcoming, including the landlady at The Ship Aground, just up the road. A really nice pub with a lovely beer garden.
We would recommend The Golden Lion at nearby Newport, for eating out. We actually went on 3 successive evenings and the food and service was excellent each time.
All in all, I cannot recommend Dolwern highly enough. Huge thanks to Rich and Leigh, whose care and attention to detail really did make for a wonderful holiday.
Debra and family.
So glad you had a great time. Since we embrace a multi-generational family too it’s so refreshing to hear that the feature we built into the renovation have worked - at least to a large degree. We are so lucky to have such great locals willing to support holiday makers. You always get a very warm welcome when local establishments are visited. It’s been lovely communicating with you all - your enjoyment has put a wide smile on my face. Hope to see you again sometime in the future.
