“We have stayed here before and the new sun room where the garage was is a lovely addition.”

It’s a wonderful property with a great layout, lovely views and superb location although it’s a shame they have still made no real effort to enclose the garden. The owners have, however, been badly let down by the housekeeping team. In no particular order: Door from kitchen to garden doesn’t lock, was unlocked when we arrived and another door has no handle. No duvet cover on duvet in main bedroom, part used loo rolls on holders, 1 tiny towel each with no hand towel or bath mat, coffee in jar set solid, no tea bags, no welcome pack, less than half a basket of logs and a musty smell on arrival. It felt very much like the house was got ready 3 weeks previously when the last set of guests checked out. Very poor standards and not acceptable for the price charged.

Graham Oh dear - not good. So sorry. A few comments though. The house was cleaned on the morning you arrived. We have never done a Welcome Pack as we don’t live nearby and (particularly during Covid) people were very clear that they did not want it. We do however have a very generous approach to guests using stuff like tea bags (there were some) and olive oil and salt and pepper etc. There most definitely were new loo rolls in each bathroom. I put them there myself. And more in the cupboard in the hall. The bedding was a mistake. We had complaints from a previous guest that the duvet was “too hot” so we left it like that to give choice. Probably a bad idea. Towels and bath mat - we left the linen cupboard open and towels were available in plentiful supply. We also left the underfloor heating on - which I hope was appreciated- the musty smell I can’t explain although we are doing a major refurbishment this winter which may eliminate this. Logs - we always leave logs and firefighters etc - and there are more in the shed which is left open. So all in all I would have preferred that you had texted me on the day with your concerns and I may have been able to help immediately. But I am happy to receive feedback either way. Best wishes Hugh Property Owner
