“The property is well-placed for the beach and shops but in a quiet area of the site.”

The van is super-comfortable, immaculate and thoughtfully stocked for our every need. We didn't have a phone signal at the site but the camp internet was fine for WhatsApp, email and browsing. We were aged 10 to 85 and all found things of interest to do in the area. The beach is fabulous, the village shops convenient, the adventure playground lovely and the Museum of Speed absorbing.

The property

This thoughtfully decorated single-story lodge, Balmoral, is located in the lovely seaside community of Pendine, Carmarthenshire.

Balmoral welcomes four visitors to enjoy the ultimate retreat to West Wales.

Balmoral features all ground-floor accommodation, a closed decking with chairs and easy access to the neighbourhood facilities and beach.

The designated chef of the group can rustle up a feast to be enjoyed by everyone around the dining table as the wine is poured after unloading in the off-road parking space and climbing to the entrance of your new home-away-from-home.

The well-equipped kitchen hosts all the necessary appliances required to ease your self-catered stay.

If you would rather have a little more time to enjoy your surroundings, step outside onto your enclosed decking area to enjoy an outdoor meal while thinking back on your favourite past experiences before making your schedule.

Retire to a comfortable sitting area as the sky grows dark and curl up in front of the gas fireplace to enjoy a movie night on the Smart TV.

Before retiring to a tastefully decorated twin bedroom or a king-size bedroom with its very own dressing room and en-suite shower room, wash the day away in a spacious shower room.

This will allow you to get ready for the day in style.

Take a morning stroll along the coast to enjoy the cliff-top vistas, the sand between your toes and the sun's rays as you take in Pendine Sands and the image of those Land Speed records that were created there and for which it is synonymous.

Head west and take in Pembrokeshire's coastal delights as the Wales Coast Path takes in Amroth, Wiseman's Bridge, Saundersfoot and Tenby, with plentiful options for great food and rink along the way.

Heading further east, soak up the history of Wales' great poet Dylan Thomas with a visit to his Boathouse, now a museum to his life and his writing shed.

Balmoral is also the ideal starting point for your Welsh journey, well-positioned as it is to spend the day travelling through the Brecon Beacons or Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks, each of which offers a wealth of walking, hiking, and cycling routes.

Choose coastal Balmoral and enjoy everything that West Wales has to offer.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £75.

About the location

PENDINE

Tenby 15 miles.

A delightful seaside village with a seven mile stretch of sandy beach, famous in its history for car racing and speed record attempts. The fateful car ‘Babs’, the driver of which was killed in one of the many speed record attempts, was buried in the sands for many years, but has now been dug up, restored and is often in the local museum for all to admire. Even the famous Amy Johnson used these perfect flat sands to take off on one of her many record flights. Steeped in history, these sands are perfect all year round, whether sunbathing, swimming and kite flying. With local pubs and restaurants serving good food, a café, a grocery shop and gift shops, Pendine is the perfect seaside village. Pendine is also home to the recently built Land of Speeds MUseum, which can be found on Pendine Promenade; the land speed record was actually broken on Pendine's beach, too! Nearby, the attractions range from Dylan Thomas' famous boathouse, where he penned so many of his literary masterpieces, castles, more sandy beaches, hidden coves and the vibrant seaside resort of Tenby, with Caldey Island and the majestic monastery a short boat trip away. A stunning location for exploring this beautiful part of Wales.
