However, the wi-fi was almost non-existent and none of our party (5) could make or receive phone calls on our mobiles. Even walking up the hill a couple of hundred yards did not produce a network connection. We were from three different households, all with children and grandchildren whom we like to stay in contact with, but this was not possible once we returned to the cottage each evening. One of our group, who is self-employed, left 2 days earlier than planned because he was out of reach of his customers for long periods. He texted my sister at 9pm to let her know that he arrived home safely, but this was not received until over 2 hours later by her. She could not phone him, as no network. Planning day trips without a signal for GPS was problematic and we had to drive a mile up the road before we could do this. I think we should have been informed that the wi-fi was very sporadic and phone network would be lost, particularly given the price that we paid. Also, the cottage, although lovely, was very dark and the very small patio areas did not get any evening sunshine, which was a shame, as it would have been nice to have had the option to dine outside, as you do when on holiday and the weather is beautiful.
We are glad to hear you thought our 18th century cottage was lovely. With regard to mobile signal this would have been explained to you if we could have contacted you prior to your visit . We provide a landline which can be used and the telephone number is in the cottage information pack. We were concerned that you had not contacted us 48 hours before your arrival and we ended up contacting Sykes to give you the code for the key safe. Regarding the broadband we hadn't had any problems with the internet as we stayed the week before your visit, unfortunately in the village we don't get fibre optic broadband. When Bob rang on the Monday evening he said if there were any problems do not hesitate to ring us or the housekeeper, but neither of us or Sykes had any communication from yourselves so we could rectify the problem, the first we knew about it was when the review was posted. We have since had it checked and there doesn't seem to be an issue with it, so it must have been a blip in the system. We are always happy to help where possible. Regards Lucy & Bob
