1. The Dyffryn Arms (Bessie’s), Gwaun Valley

The Dyffryn Arms in the Pembrokeshire Hills

Commonly known as Bessie’s, The Dyffryn Arms has recently been voted as the top pub walk in the UK. Bessie’s is widely regarded (amongst locals) as one of the best pubs in Pembrokeshire.

This unusual pub is home to Bessie, the wonderful landlady, who has been serving the best bass beer in Pembrokeshire for over 60 years. The Dyffryn Arms has been in her family since 1840 and is well worth the visit if you’re visiting the Gwaun Valley.


2. The Sloop Inn, Porthgain

Located just north of St David’s, The Sloop Inn is a quaint old pub, nestled beside the old harbour in Porthgain. The Pub is found along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and is the perfect stop-off point when walking from Fishguard and St. Davids.

The Sloop Inn welcomes families and serves food daily. Soak up the sun and enjoy some tasty fish and chips whilst enjoying the hustle and bustle of Porthgain.


3. The Farmers Arms, St Davids

The Farmers Arms, St Davids

Located in the heart of the UK’s smallest city, The Farmers Arms is a traditional Welsh pub with a rustic charm. This popular pub in Pembrokeshire provides a menu full of delicious seasonal Welsh dishes.

4. The Tafarn Sinc, Rosebush

A Welsh language, community-run pub, The Tafarn Sinc is situated in the heart of the Preseli Hills. It is the highest licensed pub in Pembrokeshire, surrounded by scenic walking routes and breathtaking scenery.

The Tafarn Sinc is run by enthusiastic volunteers and is known for its old-world charm, making it onto our selection of top restaurants in Pembrokeshire.

As you sit enjoying a pint or a hearty meal, you’ll be surrounded by the happy sound of the Welsh language. A unique establishment and must-visit for anyone visiting the Preseli Hills.


5. The Cresselly Arms, Cresswell Quay

A traditional riverside countryside pub, The Cresselly Arms serves a wide selection of beers and lagers, including their popular Quay Ale.

As you walk through the door, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly staff and warming fire. In the summer months, make the most of the surrounding views whilst enjoying a pint on the seats outside.


6. The Cambrian Inn, Solva

Located in the charming harbour village of Solva, this 16th Century Inn is widely considered one of the best pubs in Pembrokeshire.

Choose from The Lounge Bar, where you can sit in a comfy armchair, enjoying a drink and a bite to eat from the bar menu. Or why not wander through to the Main Dining Room where you can choose from a selection of locally sourced dishes.

The Cambrian Inn is full of character, with its exposed stonework and pitch pine beams.


7. Castle Inn, Newport Pembrokeshire

As you arrive at The Castle Inn you’ll witness a charming, traditional Welsh stone exterior. Walk through the doors and you’ll be greeted by a warm, friendly atmosphere, cosy fireplace and traditional decor. Immediately feeling at home.

Taste the homemade Chilli or mouthwatering burger as you sit back and relax after a day exploring one of Pembrokeshire best beaches. Dogs are welcome too, plus their beer garden is a must during the summer months.


8. The Ship Inn, Trefin

A traditional country pub, set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park. The Ship Inn is popular amongst seafood lovers, serving local dishes such as crab, pollock and lobster.

The historic stone pub has been managed by Meriel Murphy for over 16 years. Expect a warm welcome as you enter this family-friendly pub in Pembrokeshire.


9. The Old Chemist Inn, Saundersfoot

A friendly family pub and restaurant, with a large beer garden overlooking Saundersfoot’s award-winning beach. The Old Chemist Inn serves food daily and has a fine selection of real ales.

Open seven days a week, the traditional menu offers family favourites such as the Cymru Old Chemist Inn burger and a selection of Welsh steaks. Make sure you leave some room – as the homemade desserts are amazing!


10. The Griffin, Dale

Sit back and enjoy the views from this waterfront pub in Pembrokeshire. Or better yet – do so with a refreshing pint in hand. Popular Welsh ales including Tomos Watkin or Reverend James are available on tap.

12. Hope and Anchor, Tenby

Hope & Anchor is one of our favourite restaurants in Tenby, and it’s not hard to see why. A nautical-themed pub, serving a range of meat and fish dishes; foodies visiting Tenby won’t be disappointed!

After a day exploring the delights of Pembrokeshire, refuel with a taste of the lobster thermidor or local beef burger. Plus, this local friendly pub has a fine selection of bitters and ciders.


13. The Royal Oak, Fishguard

A family-friendly, coastal pub in the Welsh seaside town of Fishguard. This Pembrokeshire pub boasts great food and fantastic local ales throughout the year, located in one of Pembrokeshire’s most beautiful towns.
