This property consists of a Grade 1 Listed Gazebo built on top of The East Tower which is an Ancient Monument in the Ancient Town Walls of Pembroke with an enclosed private walled garden. The property was restored and extended in 2015/6 to create a most unusual property with an extension behind the Town Walls which provides a luxurious modern holiday accommodation.
The restoration of this property was featured on BBC4 in George Clarke's Restoration Man programme which was broadcast first in February 2016.
This property is really somewhere very special to be enjoyed by the discerning holidaymaker who wants history in a contemporary surrounding with peace and quiet to read or explore the historic Pembrokeshire countryside with its Castles, Lily Ponds (Bosherston) or its beaches.
From the roadside access is via a flight of stairs or ramp to the coded garden Entrance Door in the Town Wall which opens into a spacious private walled garden. Follow the path around to the French Window adjacent to the Terrace steps which gives access to the East Tower accommodation.
Enter the SITTING AND DINING ROOM with its Italian Limestone Cabouchon floor, panelled walls and a Glass Walk on Roof Light over the dining table. The room is elegantly furnished with two grey sofas, glass coffee table, TV with DVD and a mahogany dining table with up to 6 chairs, antique portraits and modern art with occasional furniture. It has two French Windows out onto the outside Patio. Off this room is the HI-SPEC KITCHEN which has a central island with sink, Quooker instant boiling water tap and food waste macerator with dishwasher under. Around one side are the kitchen units with Bosch Cooker, Steam Oven, Warming Drawer and Hob. TV.
To one side of the room there is an Italian GLASS SPIRAL STAIRCASE which leads to the Summer Room at the top of the Gazebo which has a fine antique chandelier and contemporary art on the walls with a comfy sofa and chaise-longue for those lazy afternoons or evenings reading. French Doors lead out onto the slate Terrace. There are two double bedrooms off the Sitting Room with BEDROOM 1 furnished with king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, chest of drawers, TV and fully tiled bathroom with bath/shower, WC and vanity basin en-suite and heated towel rail. French Windows lead out onto the garden.
BEDROOM 2 has a double bed with bed side table, chest of drawers and a large mirrored wardrobe and TV. The En-suite Shower Room has a walk in shower, WC and vanity basin and heated towel rail. French Windows lead out onto the Patio.
There is also a CLOAKROOM off the Sitting Room with WC, hand basin with mirror over and a coat hanger.
There is a ROOF TOP TERRACE with a stone balustrade and slate terrace with a walk on Roof Light over the dining table, which one should be careful walking over when it is wet, and a seating area with chess board set into the Terrace (Wooden Draught Pieces are available).
Stone steps lead from the Terrace down to the large lawn area with two ancient yew trees and a Sunken Patio with slate seating and a gas Barbecue. The Garden and Terrace have outside lighting to enjoy those late summer evenings.
There is also a flagstone Patio area outside the sitting room with a table and benches to enjoy Al Fresco dining when weather allows.
There is ample parking outside the property on Commons Road with one parking space at the bottom of the East Tower.
There is underfloor heating in both bathrooms, kitchen, cloakroom and Gazebo Room and radiators elsewhere.
Heating is included in the rental.
Beds will all be made up with fresh linen for your arrival and towels are provided (not for beach use).
Wifi enabled. No baby equipment. No pets. No smoking.
There is no washing machine available but there is a laundry nearby in the Town if required.
The Paddle Steps down into the basement rooms are out of bounds and the property is fully alarmed with a security entry phone system.(Code to be provided)
