Carmarthenshire Cottages

Visit the oldest town in West Wales, Carmarthen. This historical and magical town sits on the bank of the River Tywi and was thought to be where the famous Merlin the magician lived. Take a step outside from your Carmarthen holiday cottage to find a wonderful roman market town that still thrives, with locals selling fresh veg and arts and crafts daily.

If you want some adventure and fun, head to Pembrey. This spot has a popular country park and beach that's open daily and is accessible to explore on foot or by bike. Make sure you finish your day of exploring with a great range of Welsh food and ice cream that is available for you to dig in to.

The town of Kidwelly is a great base for touring Carmarthenshire's Welsh history. This small town is home to one of Wales's finest and well preserved Norman castles and is steeped in history. Not forgetting the oldest canal in Wales, Kymers Canal. This location is believed to be the first purpose-built canal in the world, that has now become a thriving habitat for wildlife and a great walking destination to visit whilst in Mid Wales.

Places to Stay on Your Carmarthenshire Holiday

Step back in time when staying in Laugharne and visit the small town that was home to the famous poet, Dylan Thomas. Visit the estuary to see the boathouse that housed him as he wrote some of his famous works. Laugharne is located on the south coast of Carmarthenshire and is a great place to head if you want to visit the River Taf. Close by you will find Pendine Sands, a huge seven-mile stretch of golden beach that's perfect for flying a kite, collecting shells or having a picnic.

Golden Grove in Llandeilo is home to an outstanding 1800 mansion that is a perfect attraction for a family day out. Enjoy walking through the country park looking out for the deer on the estate, after that head to the newly refurbished tea room for some Welsh cakes with an amazing view of the Tywi Valley.

Trapp is located on the River Cennen west of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Choose a Carmarthenshire cottage in Trapp to enjoy the walled gardens at Aberglasney, the Brechfa forest for a walk and the famous castle, Carreg Cennen.

Towy Valley is home to the longest river in Wales. The source starts in the Cambrian mountains and flows into Carmarthen Bay. If you love to cycle this destination is for you. Cross over rivers and enjoy the countryside when taking a ride through this beautiful Carmarthen destination.

Or why not head to the charming market town of Llandovery, located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
